Project
1) Connect MIDI keyboard to new Mac mini with MIDIMate EX dual cable 2) Launch Musescore and set up any score 3) Try to input using keyboard (will not work) 4) Open Preferences 5) CoreMIDI, ESI MIDIMATE eX Port 1 (or 2) is not shown but can be pulled up with the dropdown. If either is selected, input still does not work and when exiting Preferences, the selection does not "stick"

You'd need to start MuseScore after having connected and switched in the MIDI device.
Or use the "Restart Audio and MIDI devices" buddon oin that preferences dialog or use that MIDI button in the toolbar (off and on again)

Thanks, but I had already tried both of these things and neither worked. I was afraid that maybe it was the interface cables, but they work fine with GarageBand. (And no, I'm not trying to run both programs at the same time.)

Also, When I go to the Preferences dialog, no MIDI I/O shows in the dropdown menu, so that tells me that Musescore isn't seeing the input at all.
I must say that I also experience MIDI problems on Mac. After I do "Restart audio and MIDI devices", I can enter exactly one note using MIDI, and then it stops working again. I tested it with multiple kinds of MIDI devices, but all give the same result.
