How beam across crotchet rest?
I find I can beam across quaver rests using this method https://musescore.org/en/node/11370 but it doesn't work when the rest is a crotchet. There must be a way!?

Interesting, indeed this doesn't work for crotchet or longer rests (it does for dotted quavers rests).
Not sure whether this is intentional or a bug

OK thanks for confirming.
Will the presence of this post be enough to get it looked at, if it is a bug?

My guess this is by design, as the crotchet doesn't have a beam, the rest won't have either, so the rest's beaming property is just ignored, and probably rightfully so.
Workaround: make it 2 quaver rests.

If indeed we want this change? I'm not convinced that we should allow beaming across a crotchet rest. How about a comment from @oktophonie?

Meanwhile, a workaround might be to add quaver rests, mark them invisible, then add the crochet from the symbols palette.
So this will now be possible in 3.6.2
