Musescore 3.6 Vertical frames
Hi,
Is anyone having issues editing the size of a vertical frame? I can change a horizontal frame just fine but a vertical frame won't move either through dragging it and through the inspector. Just wondering if this is an issue for anyone else and if you have a fix for it.
Thanks.

Just untick the 'Automatic size' for that frame in Inspector.
No fix needed, this is by design (and indeed new in 3.6)

Ha! I didn't even notice the little check box. Thanks!

No fix needed? Well, this question comes back really very often. It's really counter-intuitive (goes against all our habits in the program) to grab a frame for editing, and notice that nothing happens.
So, no wonder users think they are encountering a bug.
To improve this: see this excellent "Suggestion": #315779: Disable auto-size of vertical frame when dragging the height handle

Not in this case, where the user even did use the Inspector, just missed the checkbox

My point is: Inspector or not, when appear handles for editing, the user should be able to do it by moving them without having to go through an extra step in the Inspector.

I agree. The new behaviour is a change to the previous (sub-)version, and is not easily discoverable - unless you are lucky enough to spot the new checkbox. I have not found the feature in the 3.6 release notes.

I, too, was surprised when I first encountered it.

Indeed, while, imho, Musescore is excellent not only generally, but also with regard to many of its particulars, this is a fail. It's counterintuitive given how Musescore handles similar elements (and how it has managed this element in the past), and it's (perhaps, more problematically) counterintuitive with regard to how frames are handled throughout the computer-programming universe. Is it the end of the world? Uh, no. Who would ask such a question? Oh, right. Does it need to be fixed? Yup yup.

Can you explain the problem you are having in more detail? Please attach your score and give precise steps to reproduce the issue. Note that the issue described in the original post existing only briefly in a release that was only out for a couple of weeks and was fixed long ago - it's now perfectly possible to edit a frame size directly without needing to disable the automatic sizing. Although of course, the whole point of the automatic sizing is that you shouldn't need to size frames manually so much any more.

I will be glad to do so at a later time, but I am under a pressing deadline at the moment. I appreciate your alacritous response, but I must defer for now, as it doesn't present an unsurmountable hurdle to my work with Musescore.
