If you mean "different pitch", you cannot tie them. You must use a slur: select the first note (or first and last note for a long slur), then press S.
If you mean tie two notes at the "same pitch", then select the first note and press +.

Thank you. I did mean notes of different pitch. I will try what you recommend.
