?? Summary of Changes in Release 3.6.0 ??
Is there somewhere a summary of changes with Release 3.6.0? (The 4-minute video is all about engraving, and nothing else). I ask because I just upgraded to what I thought was the latest stable release -- 3.6.0.487915773 Revision 1977 cb3 -- and ever since it is behaving weirdly. Examples:
-- When I create a new score, it doesn't seem to use any style-sheet from the Styles folder designated via Edit | Preferences, but doesn't give error message explaining why it was skipped. When I subsequently try to load one of those style-sheets, it says it "may not be able to load sheet created with a previous release". If the program includes that error message, then presumably this is a known problem, but I can't find any descripition of what it is (and what the work-around might be).
-- When I do File | Open, the list of files first shows duplicates of all my scores but with a "." prefix. If I open one of these "." files, what I get is the score of the same name but reformatted in some alien style that I HATE (okay the font is very elegant, but a large amount of the page is wasted on the header).
-- When I open one of my regular files (without the "." prefix), the tab has an asterisk, indicating that it has been modified, but there is no way for me to tell what "improvements" have been made.
Trying to understand the style-sheet issue, I checked out the list of changes for developers at
https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/releases/tag/v3.6 but that wasn't helpful. One of the items says "Fixed an issue with application of new styles to pre-3.6 scores". Is there a somewhere a description of how "new" styles differ from "pre 3.6" styles and what (if anything) a user can to to make his/her styles compliant with the new standard?
I'm VERY discouraged that the MuseScore tool I've come to rely on is behaving so erratically. This seems like a beta test, not a stable release.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Or see https://musescore.org/en/3.6.1 and from there to https://musescore.org/en/node/316462, there esp. #315503: MuseScore 3.6 doesn't use self-defined Default Style for new score, which adresses the 1st problem you mentioned
The 2nd is a new feature that it now shows the backup scores and allows to import them. IIRC 3.5 did that already.
The 3rd is by design, the score got modified to either explicitly (!) keep the old styles settings or take the new ones.

As mentioned, the issue with the custom MSS file not being honored when also using templates was a bug in 3.6.0, and it's already fixed in 3.6.1. So updating should solve that.
The backup files as mentioned have always been there, but as usually hidden. People have complained about how that worked for years, so a couple of updates ago, this was finally changed. Future backups you create will now go into a separate folder. You are free to move these backups there too if you like, or just delete them.
Not sure what you mean about alien style, the backup file should have the same file as the main score itself. Feel free to attach a score you are having trouble with though.
