How to match a fretboard diagram chord to match the actual strings being strummed?
I am trying to expand on a custom mandolin fretboard palette and was curious if it is possible to match the playback chord with the actual pitches being strummed. For example, one possible D chord on the mandolin is A3-D4-A4-F#5 but if "D" is the palette cell name, the playback chord is likely D3-D4-F#3-A3.
Perhaps it is possible to get specific with the Palette Cell name?
Or can one make Custom Chords and associate/link those with the fretboard diagrams?
Thanks for any assistance.

AFAIK, no one has implemented fretboard diagram playback for lack of interest or whatever reason, and Chord-text doesn't seem to be customizable beyond some limited options.
In the meantime, if particular playback is important, you probably know the workaround drills: have a regular notation/tablature chord actually play the corresponding notes and maybe hide them if need be and then turn off playback of any chord-texts, or even go as far as having a hidden staff with the particular notes. In that sense, an alternative or midway implementation could be to have a "realize" fretboard-diagram, similar to how chord-texts have such an option, to get the corresponding diagram transferred to the instrument staff.

Great ideas!. Thank you. I am a melody mandolin player trying to get more rhythm chords in my head and my fingers so I can spell the rhythm guitar player. I just wanted to make sure what i was strumming matched the chord playback which it doesn't. I find using musescore basically as a back track is very helpful. I'm just going to have to meticulously write them all out. I think your idea using the tab option is a good one. It would be helpful if they had a mandolin as one of the plucked instruments.

Good success to your mandolin practice.
Certainly though, it really would help someone who wanted to do what you're describing to be able to "realize" the chord into a tab without having to do it manually in my opinion, and that alone is worth a feature request.
