open hi hat
Hi just wondering how I get an open hi hat with the open circle. I looked on the Edit Drumset and it seems to Have the open hi hat on the wrong string and no open circle.

You can of course change the open hi-hat position assignment in that window to match your convention.
The Edit Drumset window is not able to pair this with an articulation as well, here's my approach:
The symbol will be applied to all those selected notes at once.
Not sure what you mean by 'wrong string" - drum notation doesn't use strings. maybe you mean, the staff line chosen by default isn't the one you personally prefer? You can change that using Edit Drumset - but do note the default is a fairly standard choice, it's not "wrong". But different editors use different standards to be sure, so if you are emulating the style of one who uses a different choice, that's fine. So, make the change in Edit drumset to get the note on the line you wish, then add the desired symbol from the palette.

Yes, I altered it to the top line of the drum stave. but it doesn't have the open circle above it to show 'open hi hat.

Exactly, as we explained, if you want that symbol to appear, simply add it from the palette.

finally found an answer in articulations. There is a small open circle there. woohoo.
I notice some use the circle with the x in it. My other studies use the circle above the hi hat to show open. Might stick with what we use in this country. Cheers

I've been trying to do the same thing w/ my MDL (Musescore Drum Line) Snare Drum cause I love its sound alot
