Drum kit standard jazz patterns
I'm needing to write standard 4/4 jazz patterns for a slow ballad, but not being a drummer, I have no idea how to do it.

I had the same problem - solved by entering "jazz drums" in the sheet music search box above, and copying something suitable.

Thanks Malcolm. I'll give that a bash.
FWIW, though, slow ballads would be the toughest to define a pattern for, there isn't much of one as it's mostly about brushwork, which doesn't translate well to notation or to MIDI.

Thanks Carl. I think I've worked out something (pretty basic) that will be OK for starters until I can find an expert to make extra suggestions (variations, particularly at transition moments in the melody)

The best brushes results so far (for recording purposes) have been with Band in a Box. I created an mp3 of the track in BiaB, then merged it with the mp3 from Musescore in Audacity. However, I don't think that this is the problem you are tackling.
