Apply palm muted guitar?
How do you apply the palm muted guitar to the X on the tab? I pulled up the mixer then found the palm muted guitar sound, but I don't seen an option to apply the palm muted guitar to the XX on the tab.
I tried this link https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/mixer#mid-staff-change
But the steps don't work because under Staff Text Properties there is no pizzicato.

Why would you want pizzicato in staff text properties, in connection with a palm muted guitar?
For an accoustic guitar you have "open", "muted" and "jazz" there, you want muted here I guess

I'm just trying to turn the X on a tab into a palm muted guitar and am unable to do so on Muscore3.

(right-click text "P.M" and look at "Staff text properties")

cadiz1 I'm confused. Are you asking me to right click on the X and click staff/part properties and on long instrument name type P.M because I tried that and it didn't work. Yeah I'm completely confused here.

I clicked that file link you added, that pops up P.M on Musescore 3 I clicked staff text properties and yes I see voice 1 2 3 4 and the word mute. But I don't how to get that the X text on the Judas Priest breaking the law song to palm mute.

so add a staff text to that score and change its properties to mute, just like in @cadiz1's example

"so add a staff text to that score and change its properties to mute, just like in @cadiz1's example"
I have no clue how to do that. I'm not good with technical stuff like this.

But you did see the handbook page that describes how this is done for Violin and pizzicato, didn't you?
It is done the (almost) same way for muted guitar
If you can't get it to work, please share the score here

I'm trying to turn the X on a distorted guitar on the song Judas Priest Breaking the law into a palm mute sound, that's what I'm asking and am unable to do it, and I don't know how to proceed.

I'm still confused. I went to the link, clicked Control + T then typed in the word P.M then clicked staff text properties and the only option under channel is normal not palm mute.
screen capture of staff text properties on my musescore 3 shows no other option under channel but the word "normal" . no palm mute option.

Then you'd need to share the score.
Likely the instrument you used there is not a guitar.
Or stems from an older version of MuseScore, which didn't have those channels in the instrument definitions

I guess it's a GP file? Could you please attach your version to be able to check.
I imported version 3 (on Ultimate guitar, a .gp3 file!), and it was a bit of a mess: several staves but only one guitar, inter alias!
I had to create, for the example, a new score with MuseScore, copy-paste the contents, then apply this P.M. text (or not),see : Judas Priest 1.mscz
Anyway, even with a score created with GP7, importing these ghost notes does not work (not supported, I guess, I don't recall exactly). See the short test (created with last version of GP): test.gp

That's not a MuseScore score.
And Importing it doesn't seem to pick up the electric guitar definition of MuseScore, so first 'change' those staves to "electric guitar"
After that you'd see a bunch of channels in the staff text properties to choose from.

The GP3 tab was already on guitar, but I changed to electric guitar. After that no bunch of channels, just the same one as before.
