There was a plugin for this, for MuseScore 2.x, see https://musescore.org/project/random-notes-generator
Might be possible to port this over to 3.x
In "built in " plugins, there are two - random and random2.
You need to enable them in Plugins Manager.

Oops I forgot those...
You'll specifically want to look at random2 which uses both 1/8th and 1/4th notes as well as having a UI to limit the octave spread.

Hello, these 2 plugins seem to have disappeared from within Musescore. Any idea about how to get them back?
