Unable to get Synthesizer working
I'm running version 3.6.2.548021803, revision 3224f34 on a PC.
I've not been able to get Synthesizer working at all.
I've followed all of the steps on the last thread and as nothing worked uninstalled and re-installed MuseScore.
Soundfonts are in the default directory, and if I double click to reload, MuseScore shows a dialog box asking if I want to install and following [OK] responds that they are installed.
However, Synthesizer, Mixer and Play Panel are all greyed out in the View menu.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi,
Working through the steps
1/2. It looks like Synthesizer is disabled as it is greyed out
3. I added a new sound font into the relevant directory on my PC, but I can't add it as I can't open the Synthesizer window
4. This could be the issue - as this is the only step I don't understand what to actually do here!
5. Nothing happens if I press the [Restart...] button
6. Musescore is not listed in the Volume Mixer
7. Running on a PC (can hear sound from all other apps/games, etc so not muted)
8. All of the dropdowns in the PortAudio section are empty
I've also tried uninstalling the whole package, and reinstalling from the website, but it doesn't change anything; synthesizer is still greyed out.

What about these:
"In case of interference with other programs, esp. on Windows, go into your soundcard configuration from Control Panel and ensure that the Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device in the Advanced tab of both Playback and Recording is unticked."
"Using bluetooth headphones/speakers: In some cases it might also work to toggle (i.e. press twice) the MIDI input button (looking like a 5-pin DIN connector) on the main toolbar or just restart MuseScore."
Also...
Try using menu item: Help -> Revert to Factory Settings

Thanks for the hints and ideas.
I've found the issue - the Stereo Mix on the Recording side had the wrong setting ticked.
Thanks both!

"The Stereo Mix on the Recording side" of what, where?

Thanks for your thorough followup on your attempt to apply those suggestions.
The instructions for updating your audio drivers depend on your OS and hardware, so you'd need to do a web search. Definitely recommended.
I'm a bit concerned that MuseScore isn't listed in the volume mixer, I would have thought all problems would be listed whether they use audio or not, but I'm not super familiar with how that works on Windows.
