Possible bugs with added clefs
POSSIBLE BUG 1
Adding a clef gets added to both standard notation AND tablature staves
Steps to reproduce
-Create a new score
-In the "Choose template file" dialog, select "Choose Instruments"
-Select "Strings - Plucked|Electric Bass|Add to score"
-Select the "Staff: 1 Bass Clef" item associated with the "Electric Bass" in the instrument list.
-Click "Add Linked Staff" button.
-Change "Staff type" for the "Staff: 2" item to "Tab. 4-str. full"
-Click "Finish"
-From the Clefs palette, select "More" then "Bass clef 8va bassa" and drag-n-drop the clef onto the first measure of staff 1.
Note that the clef is added to both staffs - the conventional notation and the tablature
POSSIBLE BUG 2
Added clef gets stripped when recalling the score as a template
Steps to reproduce
-Click-select the extraneous bass clef on the tablature staff and press "Delete" to remove it.
-Save the resulting score to the personal templates folder %HOMEPATH%\Documents\MuseScore3\Templates (either .mscx or .mscz format)
-Close the new score.
-Select File|New... to create a new score.
-From the "Choose template file", expand the "Custom templates" option and select the template created and saved in the steps above.
-Click
Note that the "Bass clef 8va bassa" clef added to the template has been stripped out, and will have to be manually re-added to the score
Abandon the new score, and select "File|Open...", select and open the template file as a score.
Note that the "Bass clef 8va bassa" is still present in the template file
Note that this behavior is common to any clef added to the score template file - the steps above can be duplicated by selecting any clef such as the tenor clef.
PS - I tried to add tags to format the text above, but for some reason they're not taking effect. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong are appreciated. I note that when I edit this after saving that all my tags are there. Weird.

What tags? You can use MarkDown to format things here.
I can confirm both issues, but IMHO the latter is not a bug, but by design, as non of the measures (and hence none of their modification) are taken from a template, instead just the information from the instruments setup is taken and that sets a 'normal' bass clef for an (Electric) Bass (but transposes down an octave).
The former though does look like a bug to me

Ok - thanks.
As to formatting, I used tags all over that post - for bold for ordered lists, etc. Those aren't MarkDown tags?

Ah! Nevermind - I've got it now. Haven't used MarkDown in a long time. Used to use it on Wikis.
I forgot that it's an entirely different syntax from HTML, not just a subset. Sorry for the badly formatted OP. Will try to do better next time.
Thanks.
