Change time signature on one stave.
Hello. I am currently making up a score for practice purposes. It is a 'theme and variations' piece. I am layering the variations with one stave for each variation with the intention of listening or practising each variation while the theme plays in the background. While the Theme and two of the variations are in 4/4, one of the variations is in 12/8. When I attempt to change the time signature on that stave all the others change as well. I know that I could input that stave using triplets but I am using copy and paste to construct this score from another source.
Work-arounds aside, a composer may well wish to have one instrument playing in 4/4 and another in 3/4.
i have searched the handbook and thought that the 'change staff properties' option might help but the 'S' symbol isn't in my text pallet.
I would value input or advice.
Thank you

"Local Time Signatures":

Do note that the local time signature feature is pretty limited. Since this is just for practice purposes, , you might find it simpler to just enter the melody in 12/8 as well, using duplets as needed.
Also, the staff type change is not what you want, but for the record - the icon changed recently, it isn't an "S" any more but instead an image of a staff.

Very true, but if someone asks to hand over the gun to shoot him/herself in the foot, I hand over the gun and enjoy the show ;-)
