transposing in score
I have a score in B major. The Bb Trumpet part is now in C# major --- I would love it to be in Db major obviously --- but fail to see how I can do this

It's an option in the staff properties "Prefer flats or sharps for transposed key signatures"

and again MuseScore amazes me !! Thanks Dylan
FWIW, I wouldn't say "obviously" Db is preferable. Trumpet players are far more accustomed to seeing sharps than flats because the transposition always removes flats or adds sharps. Therefore many of them would actually prefer seen sharps to five flats. But not all, of course. If you're writing for a specific ensemble, check with the player(s) in question. Otherwise, though, I'd recommend leaving it alone.

Good point Marc. I was assuming 5 flats would be more palatable for any player than 7 sharps ;-) .... with nasty creatures like e# and b# appearing all over the place.
Anyhow - AGAIN MuseScore impressed me with the thoughtful functionality behind it ...
