beginning a score
STUPID question....I downloaded Musescore and cannot find where to begin a new score. I watched video, but I was never given the options to create. Someone please help this not-so-bright musescore beginner.

The handbook is your friend. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/create-new-score. And come back if you are still stuck.
Assuming you actually downloaded the MuseScore notation program to your computer and not the reader/player app to a mobile device (the latter has no creating/editing capabilities), then you should see an empty score the moment you start it up, and you can start entering notes immediately. Or use File / New to start a new score, same as how most other computer programs allow you to create new document.
