The bug: Doubble bass is registered as a bowed instrument, and even when u change it to stringed (pizzicato) when u place a note, it plays as an arco note (with a bow).

I havent tried it (yet), but I assume the same bug exists with other instruments where u can change how u play it, like violin etc.

Double bass indeed is arco by default, but has pizzicato and tremolo channels, use the corresponding texts from the text palette to do the switching

Doubler bass is just another name for Contrabass, at least as far as MuseScore and its instruments.xml is concerned:
