How do I delete or erase unwanted rests from a measure? I can delete notes but not rests that seem to get addedl.

Usually you want to replace rests with notes, silence with music, deleting rests doesn't really make much sense.
Unless you've been using voices wrongly.
But you can delete voice 2-4 rests
And
You can Ctrl+Del rests (and notes) and shorten the measure in doing so.
The way to delete rests depends entirely on how they got there, what they are doing there, and what you want to replace them with. So please attach an example score and explain which silence you want to get rid of and why, and what you want to be present at that time position instead.
