Create space-to-space scale in 6/8, create line-to-line scale. Compare. This situation perhaps highlights a specific beam issue, and three-note groups are a convenient example.
Observe the slope is different for each. Look at bar 7 in the attached score.
According to Gould, we should aim at the shallowest slope, so (subjectively) the space-to-space version looks better.
