Project
This is to request to include hairpins as system lines like system text lines. The reason is, in some orchestral scores (such as those by Kodaly, Szymanowski), dynamics and hairpins are sometimes printed above the whole system. Dynamics and can be entered as SMUFL dynamic marks, but we can't draw a system hairpin like in Sibelius. So just include "crescendo hairpin (system)" and "diminuendo hairpin (system)".
Comments
Adding them to all instruments and hiding all but the top being a workaround

Yes, a temporary workaround, but only for playback, when exporting to Musicxml 4 and doing braille translation, the property is incorrect. There should be a system attribute in the direction tag. Sibelius has these by defining the hairpin line as system object in the Edit Lines dialog, so why not in Musescore? The other workaround is to add a combo box in the inspector to specify if the line or the hairpin belongs to the staff or system.

The latter isn't a (currently usable) workaround, as it would require a code change, and a file format extension too

Yes, but I didn't say it should appear in Musescore 3. I just hope it can be included in Musescore 4, which is still under development, and any additions can be applied.

I really like this idea. I often wanted to use a feature like this.
