Previously started a thread but I'll move that here unless this is the wrong format.
My question(s) are down below.

Pretty tricky indeed. Maybe like this:
With tuplets 8th 3/1, 16th 4/2, 8rh 3/1, 8th 3/1

someone in my previous post said that it should be aligned but we'd probably have to change the note value
edit: This seems to align
(added .mscz file previously but it doesn't work)
In reply to someone in my previous post… by wachamcaulid
Yes, it does align differently. Not sure how to get that fixed though

I edited it with a screenshot and the edited score

Yes, now, as you changed those leading and trailing 8th into 16th.
Looks OK to me and might be an error in the original?

It's not, just match the bottom triplets first, then nest the new ones in there; see below.
The "outer" triplet indication is not explicitly shown as the alignment is supposed to make that clear.

Ah!
To me it looks like nested tuplets

that didn't show in the pdf smh 🤔
In reply to that didn't show in the pdf… by wachamcaulid
As replied above, the outer tuplet notation is often discarded in older scores as it is assumed to be "obvious" because of the alignment with the triplet below it.
(solved)In the pdf, these fit:
Now I can't seem to fit these even with the correct bracket button or decreasing in page settings:

(I hope the new questions can be seen despite being at the bottom)
How is this created?
things that confuse me about these notes:
1. they look like quarter notes but it doesn't match 4/4
2. It has one note but it looks like a triplet
(I don't need help on inputting the tremolo)

In reply to I hope asking questions in… by wachamcaulid
It looks like they mean the quaver/crotchet combo's to be part of triplets i.e. quaver+crotchet in the space of two quavers.
Set up some triplets
Add notes
Add clefs
Add tremolo
Get rid of the brackets and add slurs for that authentic old-score triplet look
In reply to The whole score looks lazily… by underquark
the triplet sign doesn't seem to be in the top middle of the two notes but above a quarter note which is why it confused me
(when answering a specific question(s), please select the number(s) that you are answering)
1. So I'm assuming this is a marcato but the ink faded but is it just ok to assume that it's a marcato?
2.So there's no line in between and I set the higher note to a b. Is that correct?(check .mscz if needed)
3.How do I keep the copyright sign in page 2 only(not 1)?

(additional questions)
(time signature is c or 4/4)
4. Are these supposed to be 16th notes or do I just make an 8th note triplet with the duration of a regular 8th note?(I did the 2nd one but I want to make sure that it's correct)
5.Do I just input them as quarter notes, hide the rests in between, or just keep the 8th note rests as is?

The score has been badly and inconsistently engraved. To answer your questions you will either need to find a better engraving, an early recording of a performance of the work or just guess based on other measures.
In reply to The score has been badly and… by underquark
I don't seem to find a recording of the piece besides my musescore file...
I also don't seem to find a better engraved version
but I can guess based on other measures
the piece also doesn't seem to be very well-known
I put seem because they are purely based on my observation and time searching on the Internet.
In reply to The score has been badly and… by underquark
is it the pdf that is badly engraved or how I notated the piece that you are talking about?(since I'm just continuously correcting any mistake stated)
and do you have something to say about my question number 3 (go back to my comment)
and
point out the parts of the picture that were badly engraved
In reply to is it the pdf that is badly… by wachamcaulid
The PDF has many irritating errors (IMHO):
Ottava lines: did they not have rulers in 1884?
Using a DC in measure 6 instead of just a repeat barline
Getting the beats per bar wrong, e.g.
- Bar 9 (under pomposo) - 3.5 beats
- Bar 12 - 5 beats
- Bar 16 (under Brilliant.) - 4.5 beats
The offset triplet brackets (already noted)
Bass clefs sometimes before the barline, sometimes straddling the barline
Treble clefs (bottom stave) centred on the A space in places
fff, pp etc. sometimes have the letters mal-aligned
Q3 - If you only want Copyright on one page, remove the entry from Format >Style >Header/Footer and enter text in a frame at the bottom of the page you want or attached to an element on the lowest stave of the page but beware as it could move if layout changes.

do you think the score is messy even for 1884?
In reply to do you think the score is… by wachamcaulid
From the posted sample, yes. As mentioned, rulers clearly exister 1884, there was no excuse for lines not being straight even if it was done freehand as opposed to using traditional engraving systems. Maybe the rest of the score is better, but the post samples are quite amateurish.

Indeed, I didn’t notice the full PDF was included. There are indeed similar and other issues throughout. Definitely not a shining example of 19th century engraving, I’m sorry to say.

If the questions about this score and relate to just understanding what various notations, might as well keep them here. Although from a practical perspective, the more MuseScore-related they are, the more likely they are to get responses on this site, so if they are just general "what does this notation mean" types of questions probably best to ask on a general music forum somewhere.

I'm not familiar with the music and cannot really say. That's why I suggest posting these sorts of questions on a more general forum where there might be people familiar with the piece in question.

I don't think many people are very familiar with the piece but a general forum seems to get my posts more attention so yeah; I'll follow that.
