I can no longer enter a rest; The rest symbol seems not to respond. Has a change been made recently?

No change to the behavior of the rest button has been made in the ten years I've been using the program. Rests can be entered the same as always - most simply, by pressing "0", or for mouse users, by right-clicking on the staff. The rest button on the toolbar has not actually been needed for a very long time - not since right-click was added as a more efficient way to enter rests with the mouse. But the rest button does continue to work as it always has - first select a duration, then click the button, then click in your score to enter the rest.
