12/8

Hello, there isn't a part available for some music I am downloading from the Musescore site so I would like to make it using Musescore as well. It is in 12/8 but whenever I copy and paste, even through the new part is already in 12/8 and I changed the notation, it is still pasted like it's in 4/4. How do I fix this?
