Limit range of frets in guitar tab?
I can't find any info of this, but is there a way to limit the range of frets used (e.g. between frets 5 and 8) when importing a .pdf file, or .mscz file from someone else? I realize this could be tricky with the higher notes on the high E string, and could involve some on-the-fly transposing.

Using Staff/Part Properties you can "build" a guitar with its open strings tuned to fret 5 of a standard guitar. Then limit it to 3 frets. The resulting TAB will show 0, 1, 2, 3 for frets 5, 6, 7, 8 -- and thus would "involve some on-the-fly transposing".
I have a similar problem. I want to input notes into the music score and have them appear in the tab, which I can do and it works fine. However the algorithm assumes that I want to put all the notes as close as possible to the first fret. I would like to be able to specify a range of frets to be used (i.e. fret 7 to 15) and have all the notes inserted in the tab between fret 7 and 15. In this way I could create a riff or lick, and then easily move it up and down the neck, so I could practise it in different positions. It can't work perfectly every time of course, as the same note can be played in multiple positions on a guitar, but at least I would not have to manually update every note.
I would like it to look something like the attached.
I tried using the "capo" feature, but it didn't seem to do anything.
Thanks.

MuseScore indeed by default puts them on the lowest possible fret. No way to change that algorithm, but you can manually override it (for every single note), see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/tablature#Change_fret_number
