Grace Note Placement in Playback
I have heard several people say that the placement of a Grace Note (in performance, not on the staff) depends largely on the era and style of music in question. I am noticing that Grace Notes in Musescore are generally played directly on the beat, with the "target" note coming afterwards. Is there a way to adjust Grace Notes in playback so that the target note is played directly on its beat?

It took me a while to understand what you just said, but i understood now.
One way is to add another note on the 2nd voice, add the grace note but NOT let it play (access through F8), and let the other note be shorter than the "target note".
