I can't get my Musescore to display rests along with notes rhythms. This makes it difficult to create a musical score.

Could you attach a score you're having trouble with?
Are you talking about tablature? If so, that's normal for the "simple" and "common" styles. Switch to the "full" style (in Edit / Instruments) and rests appear. Or enable them for the other styles by right-clicking the staff, Staff/Part Properties, Advanced Style Properties.
If you just mean, you can't figure out how to enter rests on any staff, the shortcut is 0 for standard staves, semicolon for tab. Or right-click.
