how to compensate in the last bar for a pick-up note at the beginning
I started a movement with an eighth note pickup. I cannot figure out how to compensate for this by making the last bar one eighth note shorter. Please help!

FWIW, the convention of shortening the last bar to compensate for a pick up has has been dying out for quite some time. Unless you're trying to create an urtext edition of a historic work, or creating a new work in one of the traditional dance form styles like minuet etc, feel free to not bother shortening the bar at all.
