changing a template for another one
Hi, I have an orchestral score, made of a few movments. In the course of the writing the setup has evolved, so is it possible to change the template that I initially used for a new one without loosing anything and without having to redo the settings in the mixer (i.e. ports and midi channels)?

Not quite, no. As a template is a full score setup.
Perhaps try to elaborate on what your actual goal is, because there usually shouldn't be a need to load a "template" into an existing score.
If its about instruments; just add/edit them via Edit > Instruments.
If its about the look instead, load a style file instead.

Tx for answering. I work an orchestral piece made of 12 movements. As the work progressed, instruments were added and/or moved in the score layout. This layout has to be constant for the whole piece since the midi output of Musescore is directed towards a rack of VSTs. Now Musescore maps ports and midi channels in the exact order of the score. Therefore these ports and channels keep changing from movement to movement, and given that there are 54 parts - not always used at the same time - it's a little tedious to have to do so manually each time I add or remove an instrument.

I'm being thick and not entirely following yet..
The instruments in MuseScore within a single score remains constant throughout the score (even if "hide when empty" is used) and as such, so do the mixer MIDI assignments to them?
Unless, your movements are all separate scores?

Sorry for not having been clear: each movement is indeed a score in itself. So, think it as an album in the old Musescore terminology.

Then I currently don't see another approach than indeed going over each movement and making all instrument settings identical.
