push down second and subsequent pages
I'd like to push down all pages except the first so that the systems match in height from page to page. What is the parameter that does that for me?
Thanks,
Keith

It's difficult to visualize what you mean without seeing the score.
For instance, does each page contain only a single system and you want all the staves to align across facing pages?
-OR-
Do some pages have more than a single system while others have only a single system and you want to make adjustments to somehow "match in height' - whatever is that "height" you wish to "match"?
-OR-
Do all systems show the same number of staves? Are some staves hidden when empty, in which case what should match in height?
Here's one guess...
If you have a title frame on the first page and wish to "push down" the music on subsequent pages, you can use menu item: Format > Style > Page and increase the 'Music top margin' until the top staves of those subsequent pages get "pushed down" to match the height of the music on the first page.

That pushes the page down as I wish but the systems don not line up. I increase minimum distance between systems but that does not work

In general systems don't line up. If they do, it is probably by chance. Here is the first double page from the first score I opened - Dvorak Symphony #5. You can see that the sizes of the systems are very different and do not line up. Look at any other random score and you will probably see the same thing.

The only way all staves within systems could ever line up is if you aren't hiding them when empty and never add markings between staves that require extra space. If you follow those two principles, everything lines up automatically. but if there are different numbers of staves within systems, or different amount of space required between staves due to the markings you've added,d there's no getting around the laws of physics there - the staves won't align. Nor should they, as pointed out above.

Yes I see that now. As you say you can get all the top systems to be at the same distance from the top but after that, as you say, markings make a difference. In my own case some systems have two lines of lyrics, others have one, so of course the systems come out of sync and so they should.
Many thanks,
Keith.

Since you have an odd number of lines (a total of eleven), you can use a page break to place 5 lines on the title page and 6 lines on the second page. There is no need to waste the empty space on the top of the second page (which has no title frame). That empty space can be filled with the extra line. This can provide more balance across both pages.

Ah, when you talked abut wanting the systems to match in "height", I assumed you had an ensemble piece (multiple staves) and were literally concerned with the size of each system. I see now you really mean the position of the system. That's actually a llittle easier to control in msot cases, although also, a but pointless in general. You have more stuff on the first page - title plus six systems, versus only five systems on the second. Rearranging your systems breaks on the second page to have six systems there too gives you pretty close alignment, FWIW. But I agree with Jm6stringer that it looks awkward to have all that empty space on the top of the second page.
