They are not "unsorted' - they are sorted logically. So that things that are typically used together get grouped together. Same as for the palette. It results in objectively less mouse movement, less clicking, etc, to have all the things to overall score appearance together, those relating to notes & rests together, those relating to text together, those relating to lines together, those relating to other markings together, etc.

That makes sense, but they are actually not grouped in a visible way. Maybe they are positioned in a logical way that puts together related styles one after the other, but they are not grouped.
It would be very nice if you could visibly separate (with some kind of graphical separator) those different groups of settings, so that the scrolling and finding the desired style could be easier and faster. For example, the 4 first styles - "Score", "Page", "Sizes" and "Header & Footer" - could be in a group called "Page styles" or something like that.

>Why?

Because it's a slog and a waste of users' time to try to visually locate the needed setting with no methodology to why they are sorted that way.
Multiply this by the number of users, and it's a small improvement that can reduce the time spent in this screen.

Sorry for the intrusion. Consider that when that window is open (3.6.2) typing a letter even repeatedly, as in other software, highlights the item in the list. It is not what you would want but it helps.
