Any playback for me suffers from severe crackling and is way too highly pitched.

This is the case for old files but also scores created with MuseScore 4. I'm using version 4.0.0.223472200 Revision 5485621 and my buffer size is set to the maximum of 4096. Furthermore I'm on Windows 10 using the Realtek Digital Output driver version 10.0.19041.1

Here is an example:

PS: Sorry for misplacing this as a version 4.x-dev issue, I cannot select release version 4 on the bugtracker yet.

Oh and as for relevant system specs:

Hello @mir4culix
I had the same strange phenomenon, it was due to the fact that I had (abusively) used the text "tremolo" to put annotations (which I wrote instead of the word tremolo already placed in the right place). In my case, with version 3, there were no acoustic consequences to this way of doing things, but when I switched to version 4 I had to remove the annotation so that the acoustic phenomenon that chopped for example a note with the duration of a half note into eight terribly degraded sound slices...
If this experience and the resolution of my problem can help, so much the better ;-)
If not, I will at least have tried

My MS4 Version is : OS: macOS 12.6, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.0-223472200, revision: 5485621

My errors as example illustrated by the screen shot The "tremolo" effect has totally degraded the audio of the entire music written on the first musical staff "Tenor".
In my case, Effects with degraded audio only audible on the first audio channel of the mixer

The problems seems to be sample rate of the speakers, had the same problem at 192kHz but it gets fixed by going down to 44.1KHz, essentially i think musescore just packs as many sample as it can in whatever the buffer size is which ends up playing the same note repeatedly very fast (ie higher pitched), it can be seen clearly at 48kHz the note plays once then you can hear the beginning of the second one.

WORKAROUND : set sample rate to 44.1KHz in you sound driver/settings

its gotten so bad that musescore has become unusable
musescore please fix this
also i tried all the workarounds mentioned in comments and they didnt work or made it worse

why is no one fixing this issue? I'm having the same problem with musecore, i've tried resetting it, turning it off, looking for fixes and i can't find any where do i go to find them? This problem is annoying me because i can't actually use the program where are the musecore devs?
