Hi,

The sound of the trombones is problematic, PPP is inaudible, there is little to no difference between PPP, PP, and P, which is almost inaudible, and from P to F the difference is so big it makes it hard for FF and FFF to be any louder. Plus the sound is immediately a a "growly" sound (in french we say 'cuivré', but I don't know the english equivalent) in F, as if it was impossible to play the trombone loud but clean.
What should be :
PPP : almost inaudible
PP : very soft with a very tight embouchure
P : audible but still soft (aim for the sound a a euphonium)
MP : Clean sound, but soft, mellow
MF : a clean trombone sound that's affirmative but not obnoxious
F : A strong sound but absolutelly clean, no distorsion of any sort
FF : obnoxious trombone sound, almost menacing, with some "growly" effect
FFF : trombonist, do what you have to do.

Y.

Also here, relative to other brass instruments, I have to boost the intensity on the trombone mixer to match other instruments in a piano dynamic setting

Here is my +1. For orchestral wind bands, this is definietly true as well, especially for the lower dynamics.

Side note:
This can also be said for the snare drum (inaudible when every instrument plays piano), but I can open another issue if this is helpful to better organize single topics. For dynamics starting from mp, the snare drum mixes in much better.

+1

When I used MuseScore 4 to open my "perfectly balanced" score created in MuseScore 3, which is a full string orchestra plus a solo violin and a piano, I can barely hear the other string parts because the solo and the piano is way too loud. I have to do a lot of balancing work using the mixer and it's still not fixed yet.
