1) In opening Musescore 4 file created with version 3.6
fonts they are displayed correctly on the sheet music canvas
cannot be saved to the format - style - text style
and cannot be used in new scores
2) the preview in the list fonts' selection of Musescore 4 does not work for any font, unlike version 3.6 which is preview for all.

No, it doesn't. It (should) show(s) the fonte that come with MuseScore as well as those installed on the Operating System

So indeed something is amiss here

Title Missing text fonts from Μusescore 4 that were present and working in version 3.6 Text Font ignored by MuseScore v4.0 but works perfectly in v3.6.2 and all other applications.

From my forum post - my related problem:

A font that I rely on is accessible in every application that I use except for MuseScore v4.0. I've attached a side-by-side comparison between the old and new, with the font highlighted in blue.

I've reinstalled the font, uninstalled then reinstalled MuseScore v4.0, restarted the PC (many times), but to no avail. I can't get v4.0 to recognize it.

I'd love some thoughts and suggestions as to what might be causing this and how to overcome it. Thank you.

I think to reproduce this we will need a download link to one of these fonts. I tried installing the comic relief font and was successfully able to use it in musescore 4 on Windows 10, though I'm not sure if I've gotten the same font.

UPDATE: Following a suggestion from a Facebook Group member I used an online tool to convert the font from *.otf format to *.ttf format, which worked. Screenshot attached.
The problem seems to be that v4.0 couldn't handle the font as *.otf format. But when converted to *.ttf format it was able to handle it. Converting the font is a good tactical solution. Strategically I would think v4.0 should be able to handle *.otf.

Why now MuseJazz Text and not Comic Relief?
The former is built into MuseScore, are you saying that it doesn't show/work?

MuseJazz text show and work perfectly in MS4 although it does not support greek language. I did not understand why was mentioned Μusejazz
by satchmo67.
The problem with the Comic Relief font was solved when I uninstalled and reinstalled it. By the way, the Comic Relief font I installed is TTF.
I'll try to reinstall as many as I need...

As far as I know, MuseScore 4 supports OTF formal in general, but it could be there was some specific set up options used when creating this font that presented a problem for the third party libraries MuseScore relies upon for font processing, or the file could be actually invalid in some way that the older version of those libraries was more forgiving of. I don't know what is going on, but based on what I see here and what I do know about how these things work, that would be my guess.
