Change instruments

• Dec 23, 2022 - 16:27

I am new in using the MuseScore 4.

I would like to try different instruments as accompaniment when I play a song with the desktop MeseScore software.

E.g. I Click the Parts button and Select Piano 1 part, Then I click the Instrument menu item on the top left side of the screen. The left side menu shows me the music instrument used for each part but I cannot figure out how to change the instrument for that part. I add an instrument to the music sheet, e.g., Harp, then when I select Harp, the choice is to change Harp to Soloist. If I click Piano 1, or Piano 2 part, the available option is to make each of them as the soloist. I want to change Piano 1 and Piano 2 to Harp and Harp 2,

Can anyone tell me how to do it?

Thanks.

David

Can you attach your score here? Also, if not attaching the score, can you take one or more screen-shots of what you see, to illustrate your difficulty?

Hi Are-Jayem,

After reading the online handbook and tutorials today I have solved the problems.

When I opened the MuseScore 4, I did not have the instrument menu on the top left side. Then I learned that I needed to go to view and select the Instrument menu from the palettes.

To transpose the music piece, after I selected the whole piece, I then went to Tools menu on the top left side of the screen and selected Transpose > by Note > chose C major.

The online handbook is very good. It is very clear and easy to understand.

Thank you very much for your care! I am preparing this song: "Oh, Holy Night" for this Sunday church service and got a little worried
that I could not fix the problems in time.

Good bless you and have a wonderful Christmas!
