MuseScore 4 crashing when trying to open a saved score (On iMac)
Hello, I'm new to MuseScore.
Does anyone know what could be done to overcome this issue? I just bought a brand new M1 iMac and downloaded MuseScore 4. All was fine and dandy and I started creating a new composition I liked and saved it to my computer, (not the cloud).
A while later a thunder storm was moving in so I unplugged the computer from the wall so my new computer wouldn't go "BOOM." Apparently I left the saved score on when I unplugged it. I came back later to work on the score and plugged the computer back into the wall and launched MuseScore. Once MuseScore was open, on the home page it had a note popped up that says, "The previous session quit unexpectedly. Do you want to restore the session?", so I pressed YES. Then I could see the score I created for like 1/4 of a second then MuseScore closes super fast and disappears. I kept trying to open my score over and over but it does the same thing. Something else that would pop up before said, "mscore quit unexpectedly. click reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent automatically to apple." but I can't seem to get it to pop up now... I'm confused! It could be because I unplugged the computer and plugged it back in... That's all I can think of.
I know MuseScore had a big update recently so it could still have some technical blemishes that need to be corrected... Does anyone know how I can retrieve my score I saved on my computer? I was thinking of uninstalling MuseScore 4 then re-installing it and see if that works and would like to save the composition I made before uninstalling the program. Again, I didn't save it to the cloud. Thanks a lot and Yah bless! :)

I honestly have no clue if the plugging in/unplugging could be a cause. Does Musescore open if you click No? If you can get in that way, it wouldn't restore any unsaved material but at least you could start where it left off and keep working.

Hi there. This is a very, very late reply! lol... I ended up uninstalling then re-installing MuseScore and that fixed the problem. Idk... I believe when I pressed "no" MuseScore would open but it would only open the Home Screen from which you can create a new score or click on a previous composition you made to work on. When I would click on my created composition, it would crash and when I would try to create a new composition and play it back, it would also crash.
