MIDI Input Help

Hi all, I am fortunate enough to have an old Casio CZ-230S keyboard and I'm trying to connect it to Musescore 4 with an M-AUDIO cord. I am using common tips to try and help it along like powering it on before opening Musescore but am having no success. Is this hardware too old?
