Issue with slash notation and syncopated ties (resolved)

I'm using slash notation on a chart of mine and was struggling to get an 8th (on an upbeat) note tied to a whole note. I just resolved this issue by breaking the whole note into quarter notes, tying the 8th note to the first quarter note and making that a whole note.

Thought I would share incase anyone else encounters this issue. I personally thought this was a little annoying, but nothing is ever perfect.
