Why doe's not this not work
See attached example.
I simply cannot get the dynamic's to work here.
Separate dynamics for the two staves should work in 3.6. but here... (Not possible in v4 and therefore one of several "show-stoppers" for me to use that version).

Have not looked into your file, but what you are describing is a known regression.
It's however one of those that will certainly get addressed sooner or later.

It's not simply a regression. What is happening is Step 1 of a total rework of how dynamics are applied in MuseScore.
Right now (MS 4.0.1), you cannot currently apply different dynamics to the two staves of a piano instrument. You will have to wait until MS 4.x when the new system of ?velocity channels? is implemented.
Or just stay with MS 3.6.2 as I choose to do, for now. I am not opposed to progress, but I am wary about jumping straight into the newest latest version. And that is because I need to produce choral practice files every week which work effectively.

The problem is that I am using 3.6 and this example show some strange dynamic behavior.
I had a look at it yesterday and am at a loss to explain what happens there

Thx. So am I.
Tried to change instrument and piano seems to sound OK, but voices, flute etc show the same behaviour.
Guess it is simply “a bug”, but sadly no bugfixes for 3.6 anymore(?). So, no point in reporting, I assume.

Hmm, changing sound to any non-expressive (like from Church Organ expr. to Church Organ, Piano is non-expressive, that's why that works) seems to make it work. So the problem seems related to Single Note Dynamics somehow?

You'd be delighted to hear that my 3.7.0 seems to have that issue fixed ;-)
See https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/9000 and https://musescore.org/en/node/342126#comment-1173267 on how to get it

Jojo --- is it OK to promote your 3.7 if it's not available, except if the end-user downloads & builds from source? I'm comfortable doing that, BUT I know how big a mess it can turn into, as well as a very big time-consumer.

It is available, see above, no need to build from source

Excellent, I've got it. I really don't want that version to touch my existing MuseScore3/ subdir. Will I be able to execute it, then immediately change the paths to point somewhere else? It won't change any 3.6.2 config things (Linux)? Thanks.

The first use of MS3.7 (yesterday) found it produced no audio, but seemed to be advancing beat-by-beat. Now today I have audio, and was able to add & perform more instruments.
Is there a message thread dedicated to your MS3.7 effort?

No, except maybe End of Life plan for 3.x ?

Thanks a lot:-) I will try it out. A question: Does it integrated with Musescore.com similar to 3.6?
And...the links you provide are "miles long" with comments. Easy to get lost!
Could a brief Q & A summary of installing/using 3.7 be on top of one of the links?
Apart from that I really respect and appreciate the work you put into the MuseScore community. Wow!
Why "The power" does not appreciate your effort, give you a high five, applaud and announce "MuseScore classic" with your profile picture as the software logo, beats me :-)

Yes, it allows upload to musescore.com, but the backend there is 3.6.2, so it may not look 100% identical
