Unformatted whitespace is ignored when placed between formatted words in a text box

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a text box with formatted words separated by an unformatted space.
2. Save and reopen the file (or use a sample attached).
3. See the unformatted space is missing (although it's present in the source file).
When the file is saved again, the space gets discarded.
