unwanted rests
When I stry to write SATB harmony on the Great Stave, I enter the first voice (Soprano), 2nd voice and when I get to the bass clef I get whole rests that i can't get rid of when I enter the Tenor and Bass parts. Any suggestions?

You have made the common mistake of not starting with voice 1 in the lower stave. Each staff can have up to four voices: that is voice 1, 2, 3, 4 in the upper stave and voice 1, 2, 3, 4 in the lower stave. Voice 1 must be present in both staves, the others are optional. If you don't put anything in voice 1 it shows rests.

Your score was created in v 3.6.2 and that version 4 handbook entry still applies, but for the record, here is the equivalent entry in the V 3 handbook https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/voices

There are convoluted ways to remove unwanted rests, but such are only needed AFTER you follow SteveBlower's spot-on comments. Certain things done in Mu3 or Mu4 are significantly-impacted by the ORDER of things done. Once grasped, it gets less frustrating. :)
