Wrong octave in musicxml proyb2 • Sep 27, 2014 - 19:26 Type Functional Severity S4 - Minor Status by design Project MuseScore Middle C is C3 and appeared to be correct in MuseScore status bar except it display the wrong octave in musicxml for single and chord notes. < step > C < /step > < octave > 4 < /octave > Reply Comments ChurchOrganist • Sep 27, 2014 - 20:24 Actually C4 is middle C in standard pitch notation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_pitch_notation Marking as by design. Reply Jojo-Schmitz • Oct 13, 2014 - 22:16 Still the status bar shows it differently, see #36621: Middle C is shown as C3 instead of C4 Reply Leon Vinken • Oct 14, 2014 - 20:20 FYI, the MusicXML specification explicitly states "Octaves are represented by the numbers 0 to 9, where 4 indicates the octave started by middle C." which indeed implies middle C is C4 in MusicXML.
