Rest in MIDI mapping
I have mapped A#1 on my piano keyboard to enter a rest. E1 through B1 are set up to change note duration so entering a quarter rest for example should be play G1 play A#1. If the duration doesn’t change, as in a mixture of quartet notes and quarter rests then it’s even easier. Play the notes to enter them, play a#1 to rest. In MS 4 hitting the key to trigger the rest no longer adds the desired rest. It just turns the rest icon in the toolbar blue. I have to move over the the number zero (still annoyingly not working on the num-pad on my laptop) to enter the rest.

I am also experiencing this issue. I have mapped various Note Input functions to notes on my midi keyboard. Everything works fine except entering rests. In MS3 I could put a rest into the score by selecting a spot in the score, entering Note Input mode, then pressing my mapped keys for the duration value and then rest. The rest would be placed in the score, and the cursor would advance to the next note entry point.
In MS4, if I select a note in the score with Note Input turned off, and then hit my mapped "Rest" key, the note turns into a rest of the same duration. Good! But in Note Input mode, the mapped "Rest" key really doesn't do anything. The cursor stays where it is and nothing happens when I press the mapped key. So it appears that the mapping is working correctly in the sense that I can change a previously-entered note to a rest by using the mapped key. But it just doesn't work in Note Input mode.
Clearly, this makes step entry cumbersome since you have to move a hand to the computer keyboard to enter a rest. Defeats the whole purpose of mapping.
I'm running MS4 on one of the last Intel Mac Powerbooks with Big Sur for the OS. Just did a complete clean install of the OS, so the system, although somewhat dated, should not be an issue. There is no software on this machine other than what comes with Apple's default install plus Firefox and Musescore 4.
