Automatic note detection for live input

Could it be possible to have live input detect note durations? It would need the user to turn on metronome and set meter. As the user inputs notes, MuseScore will calculate the note value depending on how long the note is being held (holding a C key for two beats will result in a half note written in the score) based upon the meter selected.
