Cue Notes in Linked Parts
Is there a chance to show cue notes from other parts of the score - but o n l y in a linked part - without any influence in the full score - as a service for the musican and mostly important for support in counting after long rests?
Of course I know about define small note entries - but this is only a part of all.
I am only musican and no program expert - but like to debate the following - just as a
proposal. As the most comfortable way I think of a special - new - function of copy and paste
from
a foreign part in the full score- respecting different clefs and keys
to
the recent linked part
- showing the copied range
- small - as cue notes
- maybe in the 2nd (not in the 1st) voice - to generate rests - automaticly in 1st voice
- generate a different clef - if necessary
- generate a different key - if necessary
- sound off - just to read
- show instrument name - (shortform) as line text
---> without any entries in the full score
(or leastwise invisible) !

There is no way to have notes in the part only, but if for reason you don't want them in the score (not sure why you'd want the score to lie about what's in the parts) you can mark them invisible.
There is a simple Cue Notes plugin that could be used as the basis for something you are proposing.

Hi Marc,
mor than half an year ago you wrote:

Sorry??? It is NO LIE, it is standard of editing full scores.
As a conductor you can see the part of cued notes in their original staves. If cue notes were inserted in wrong staffs you could be tempted to give the wrong entry. But other players don't see while counting endless rest bars what could be a guide to find the entry themselves.
Cue notes are NEVER a part of full scores. Cue notes are INDISPENSABLE in parts. I think the question should be allowed how that can be written properly.
Thanks. Have fun

Well, it's not true they are *never* provided - I have seen them, and appreciate it when I do. But I will take your word for it that there also exist scores that omit them, and agree it would nice if it were easier to create this.

Cue notes in full scores - it is a new thing for me ... sorry, I'm playing in much orchestras for about 40 years, 20 of them as a prof cello player ... now I'm a conductor of school and semiprof ensembles for about 10 years ...
Show me full scores with cue notes e. g. from imslp.org. Bach, Beethoven, Bruckner, Wagner, Mendelssohn, Verdi, millions of composers ... and no cue notes in the full scores.
:-) Best greetings willi63

Could be more common in modern than historic scores. Also might be genre-dependent - my conducting experience is primarily in jazz. But I think you may be thinking only of the type of cue used after an extended rest as a guide to help the player re-enter. But in jazz at least, a common type of cue is found in, for instance, the baritone sax part to be played on the absence of a bass trombone, or in an alto part to be played in the absence of flute, etc. These are the type of situations I find it most helpful if the score shows me them. And this is fortunately not uncommon.
Anyhow, again, I acknowledge that there exist contexts in which it is more common to omit them, and perhaps historically those cases are probably the majority, and that it would be nice if MuseScore had an automated way of creating these. This is something I will be looking into.
