Inputing Lyrics in Musescore
I always have problems when I try to input lyrics for a composed tune. Despite what I try, the lyrics are higglety-piggelty; not in a straight line.

I'm not sure if my suggestion is something individual or something general, because I've changed style files several times.
Try the following:
Load Format / Style. This will open your styles folder and there should be some style variations. Load one that may come with the Musescore installation or test MuseJazz.mss.
Otherwise you will find some style files in "C:\Programs\MuseScore 3\styles". For example, copy "legacy-style-defaults-v3.mss" from there into your personal styles folder and load it.
Then you can change the font back to 'Comic Sans' and save it as new style or your default style.
Maybe your default loaded style is corrupted. Check under Edit/Settings/Score which style is used and load another one for a test.
I did it as described: see the result attached.
It looks like you input the lyrics above the stave and dragged them down but maybe it did this and not you. Try [Ctrl] A R and then select one lyric, set its position to Below, click on the apply style button,

@underquark: It doesn' help, I tried this too. Does this work for you?
There must be something wrong with his style file.
Maybe this style file helps: ComicSansStyle.mss
It leads to this score: Song for forum-3.mscz
@awsr:
Small hint: Add your copyright text under "File / Score properties".
Copy this ComicSansStyle.mss into your styles folder and load it. Maybe you can set it as the default style as described above.
