Project

- Imported file from .mid file
- In bass staff - when 2 notes are on the same duration/bar (multiple voicing), I hold [Ctrl] and click lower notes, which I want them to move to Voice 2
- I hold [Ctrl]+[L-Alt] - then I must hit keyboard key [2] twice (2x - bug) to move selected notes to Voice 2

It might be originally coded for this behavior - if this is the case, ignore this bug report.
Selecting notes and then mouse-clicking [Voice 2] does move notes to Voice 2 immediately (with only 1 mouse-click).
Using:
fdd67f5
Check with attached file - bass staff - bar (70) / 74 / 84...

Simon

Ctrl-Alt-2 once is enough for me?
I'm on a later version though.

Up to now I didn't know this Feature, pity that it doesn't work the other way too (add notes from voice 2 to chords in voice 1)

I was searching for how to move notes from one voice to another and found this bug report that indicates that it is at least possible in fdd67f5. Am I reading this correctly? You can select a set of notes that are currently in voice 1, press Ctl-Alt 2 and have them moved to voice 2?

I tried it with 2.0 beta 1(1efc609) and all that happens is the notes become de-selected.

The ability to move notes from one voice to another (other than just swapping to voices) is the only capability I need that Sibelius has and I can't figure out how to do in MuseScore. Even if it only works from voice 1 to voice 2, I would be very happy. With judicious swapping of voices, you could achieve the desired result -- merging of notes in two different voices into the same voice.

I would suggest you start a thread in the Technology Preview forum explaining - ideally with the aid of a sample score - what end result you are trying to achieve. Chances are there is already a way to do with it. For instance, see http://musescore.org/en/project/plode, which combined with copy/paste and the ability exchange voices, can perform many types of operations. Again, a separate thread in the forum would be a good place to ask questions on how to accomplish some specific task.

I think this can be achieved with a plugin (script). I am talking about MS version 1.x. Not sure, but I strongly believe there will arise a soul (embodied LOL) to write it for MS 2.x (or even include it in core code).

Yes, it works (worked) since I had midi file opened/imported and there were 2 notes in one staff (as an example). I was using MSNigtly. You can achieve the same by selecting the notes [CTRL+click] then clicking 'Voice 2' icon in 'Note input' bar (available by default, otherwise 'View-Note Input'...

Lucky you, I get a complete instant crash of MS 2.0 Beta. LOL! That is, selecting multiple notes [CTRL+mouse click], then [CTRL+ALT+#2] twice - instant crash.

Solution (long-term) - either feature request or plugin (script) request.

OK, Mark replied basically same as me, I have only later seen his reply (I have entered instant-read-and-reply mode). LOL!

The implode part of the plode 1.3 plugin pair does exactly job I was trying to do. I gather from Simon Cristabo's comment #5 that in the next release of 2.0, selecting notes and then switching voices will switch the selected notes to the new voice. This is how you merge two voices in Sibelius. Thus the implode plugin may not need to be ported to 2.0.

I am new to MuseScore. I just used it to provide practice aids for the Fall concert of an 80 member chorus. (I produced files by importing MusicXML from Sibelius into MuseScore. I then have the chorus members use MuseScore to play the files. As you know, they can easily adjust the tempo and emphasize their own vocal part starting at any point in the piece.) I am now experimenting with cutting Sibelius out of the process going directly from Photoscore to MuseScore. I had been very impressed with the quality of the program. Now I am impressed with the helpfulness of the people supporting it.

Thanks to both of you!

The voice-move algorithm has changed recently. Should be more reliable now, although that doens't necessarily translate into always doing what you might want. Feel free to try and report back. I would like to consider this issue closed, although certainly, a more specific feature request for future enhancement would be welcome.

After using this shortcut for some more, I think the problem is in [Left ALT] key, which, of course, by OS default is used as hotkey for main menu items. Not sure, since I changed the shortcut combination.

As far as I am concerned, this topic / issue can be closed.

Thank you again (to all code-masters involved) for this excellent software. I love zoom in option!
