Alignment between RH/LH
Hi, I'm entering a really simple exercise and trying to get better vertical alignment between notes in the RH and LH. I want the note heads which are played at the same time to be directly below/above each other but at the moment they look slightly staggered. Is this possible? Many thanks. This is 4.0.2 on a Mac. The goal is to make the staves invisible for a pre-reader, so trying to make things as clear as possible!

Score needed, MuseScore does this by default, so not sure how you got that wierd result

Hmm, indeed very strange, it didn't do this when I tried, but I can't see why your's does it.
Might be best to report this in GitHub https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/new/choose

In the mscx there is twice the line
<mag>1.5</mag>
If I set the value to 1.0 or delete the lines, this offset disappears. (MuS 3.6.2). And of course the score is displayed smaller.
I can't find in 3.6.2 where to set this magnification ... ?

Marc has answered over on GitHub - apparently it is a fairly long standing issue, and the proper way to display larger is to set it in Page Settings -> Scaling -> Stave space (sp). It works!

Ah, that... sorry, I missed this setting

Yes, "stave space (sp)" is the well-known way for scaling the score. But it does not lead to this "mag" value which is in my opinion the root cause of this unwanted offset.

That mag value stems from the staff properties, not the sp setting, and that's also why it is in there twice: once per staff

Oh yes, I found this scaling after all :-). Never used it before.
And, an old bug: the offset problem is just as present in 3.6.2. - at least sometimes:
It depends on the stem direction!

Right, the expectation of this setting is that it will be used to create different staff sizes,a nd the algorithm tries to make things match up in those cases, but ironically fails miserably if you scale both staves.

It fails even if you scale only on stave. (3.6.2)

True, in this particular case. Other cases work well. It was also optimized for making one staff smaller than others, not larger, so there are more problematic cases if you try that.
