Duplicate a stave with contents in MU4
OK - I know how to do this. But it's a pain.
- Generate a new staff for the copy.
- Navigate to the start of the staff to copy.
- Select the first note.
- Navigate to the end of the staff - with the selection still "open".
- Select the last note or chord.
- Copy - with CTRL-C or CMD-C.
- Navigate to the start of the new staff.
- Paste - with CTRL-V or CMD -V
OTOH in most DAWs it's possible to duplicate a track with just one or two keystrokes.
Is there anything like this yet in MU4, or even planned? It would be very helpful.
Why would one want this? OK - to try out different instruments!
Example - create mutiple copies of the same staff. Then using the Mixer associate each copy with a different instrument - possibly even from different virtual instrument libraries.
Then it would be possible to compare/evaluate the different instruments, or combinations much more easily than at present.

It is a little easier than you report:
Don't you agree that this is a very special application?

No - it's a very useful application.
Your steps are essentially the same as the ones I reported earlier.
Just doing one or two operations instead of many makes things a lot simpler.

Well it is "the same" but using SHIFT -CTRL-END instead of "navigating to the end keeping selection open" like you described is a lot easier, isn't it?

By "navigate to the end" I understood "scroll to the end", e.g. with ALT mouse wheel. I interpreted this by the words "with selection still 'open'". And that is then more elaborate.
Using Shift-Ctrl-End there is no 'open selection', it is just selecting the whole staff.
Nevertheless, one can suggest to implement such a function. For that there is the section 'Feature Request'.
No need to navigate anywhere. Select the first measure across both staves, press Shift+Ctrl+End as with any program to select to end of document. Then, Tools / Expldoe copies the top staff to the next (and any other selected staves - useful to make multiple copies).
Even without Explode, there is no need for all that navigating, The copy & paste method works fine without ever leaving the first measure.
