auto scroll
whenever I finish placing all beats a measure, the screen will automatically scroll to the next empty set of measures. it causes me to lose my place in the score. how to I turn this off?

Click the setting icon on the playback toolbar and turn off "pan score automatically".
Note though that getting back where you were is always as easy as pressing the Left cursor key (or Ctrl+Left to return to the beginning of the previous measure. Or you can work in continuous view if you find yourself often needing work backwards in that way.
