Playing non-existent notes

• Aug 5, 2023 - 09:03

I installed Musescore 4.1.1 but I don't know if this bug has existed longer.
When I delete all music from a score with Ctr-Delete and I'm only left with maybe a horizontal frame with text, and I hit Play, music will play - although none is present.
I checked, it actually is the music I just deleted from the score.
Only if I now Save, quit Musescore and open the same score (without any music) again, then hitting play will not produce music (as one would expect).
It's by no means a serious bug, I just found it funny. Because why would you hit Play when no music is present? I think I accidentally hit Spacebar.

MuseScore no doubt uses buffer and cache to build the playback in memory. That's probably what you are hearing. And as you discovered, Save+Close+Open shows that the notes really were deleted.

Pressing the Spacebar does indeed start (and stop) playback.
