How to add linked tablature for only PART of a score (a guitar solo)

Most of my score has just a treble clef for the vocal and lead guitar with chords above. But one verse is a guitar solo and I need to add linked tablature IN ADDITION TO the treble clef. Then go back to just the treble clef for the last verse. I've tried highlighting where I want to add in tabs and changing the instrument. No go. Help.
